The strange thing was that I expected my grandfather not to recognise me anymore, but it turned out I was the one who didn't recognise him.

I’m an experimental designer who starts philosophical dialogs in his work, with a poetic touch. I invite the viewer to participate in my installations by letting them follow certain steps. These steps guide the viewer in experiencing my way of thinking so they can understand or question it. I combined every medium that I experimented with at AKV | St. Joost in one interactive installation.

My graduation project DE-MENS revolves around the relationship between the memories and identity of my demented grandfather. Along the way I realized that I suffered an ambiguous loss. I lost a loved one, but he is still here, alive and well. The strange thing is that I expected my grandfather not to recognize me anymore, but it turned out I was the one who didn’t recognize him.
