Twice as Tall

As a filmmaker without a father, I investigate the father-son relationship by observing and questioning three other fathers and sons. My own loss is not central to my work, but remains in every form the basis and greatest motivation to work on this project. By giving a place to memories in the form of photos and archive footage, the absence of my own father remains in full presence. Because I was quite young when my father passed away, he has always stood on a pedestal for me. Big, strong and untouchable. But actually I see a logical constant change in the father-son relationship. The transience of life, different views on the world and the development of your own norms and values ensure renewed relationships in which your father becomes an equal person. However, my own father will always remain that same superhero in my eyes.
