Just because you don't cause or see the problem doesn't mean the problem isn't there.

The survey ‘Street harassment of young people’ by Central Bureau Statistics Netherlands shows that 2 out of 3 women report experiencing street herassment. They are whistled at, called after and sometimes also chased. 1 in 3 women say that this makes them feel afraid or unsafe. Many women ignore it, don’t make eye contact or avoid certain groups.

Many people think they have nothing to do with this problem, because they themselves are not the perpetrator. However, this causes misunderstanding towards women. Just because you don’t cause or see the problem, it doesn’t mean the problem isn’t there. As a bystander, you can take small actions that make a woman feel a lot safer on the streets. CallMeCat wants to reach men through posters who are not necessarily doing something wrong, but who can help in the change.
