Dreams of Yesterday’ is a compelling charcoal animation that serves as a powerful protest against the silence of the world and the international community’s inaction and lack of responsibility towards the plight of the Syrian people. It delves into the intricate thoughts and experiences of a Syrian refugee, shedding light on the profound impact of conflict on their dreams and aspirations while seeking a path towards a future overshadowed by the destructive influences of war. Through an improvisational and intuitive approach, this animation captures the raw experience of displacement and uprootedness, offering a glimpse into the uncertainties faced by refugees after fleeing their homeland. Without adhering to a traditional narrative structure, it becomes a visual journey that portrays the loss, trauma, and pervasive sense of uncertainty that engulfs the soul.
