I Am A Real Knight

‘Ik ben een Échte Ridder’ (I Am A Real Knight) tells the story of Jos, a headstrong girl who dreams of becoming a knight. She knows everything there is to know about knights and is already highly skilled. She can fight battles with her sword and ride a horse with confidence. However, to become a real knight, one must defeat a monster. A dangerous beast with massive fangs and claws that must be fought in order to protect the kingdom’s citizens. Therefore, Jos has one thing on her to-do list: finding and defeating a monster. How hard can it be?

This book is a love letter to the classic picture book, yet embodies a modern way of thinking. Fleur’s illustrations are rich in detail and colour. They express warmth and are an invitation to the viewer to dive into the worlds she creates. Her passion for illustration is palpable in every mark of the coloured pencils she so enjoys using.
