‘Muted’ is a short experimental tech-noir film about a dystopia where people have to pay for sound to be able to hear the world around them.
Through the eyes and ears of Lucas, a young man in training to become a special force agent for the white district, we get to know the world of Muted. He, like many other citizens in this world, feels disconnected and watched by the state with every step he makes. This weight becomes unbearable as he has been forced to keep a secret for some time now: he hears unfamiliar sounds and melodies in his sleep.

When he stumbles upon a quote of a rebel, he thinks he might have a connection with the underground world, raising many questions for him without any answers. Against the love and loyalty to his best friend and mentor Danny, he chooses to take his own path in the hope to free himself.
I wanted to make a short film where I could experiment with a sound leading tell of the story; thus putting sound on a pedestal within the film and making the film more immersive.
