To criticize the agressive world we live in, I aim to create a safe space. I take certain visual aspects I consider threatening from outside environments and disarm them in my work. For example, the backs of trucks that I associate with toxic masculinity, become an unharmful composition. One where shape, color and material meet in an abstract way, forming the language of my practice.
I encounter the images in my everyday life, which I then translate into drawings, videos or textiles. With this, I draw out my vision of a safer society and hope to open up minds. My wish is to create a space where people can feel seen and strengthened to appropriate the world for themselves.
