A discomfort, an unease that comes with unsettling figures and fragmented body parts in a vibrant, seemingly innocent world.

A round apple, a shiny apple, with a beautiful, smooth green colour. But if you look closely, the stem is bent. The once neat straight stem, pushed forcefully into the skin of the apple. Now the apple has a small brown dent. Being human is incredibly uncomfortable. I often use myself and my own physical discomfort as a starting point for my work. Sticky legs, doubled backs, limp arms. The body being crushed in the crowd, kneaded, pulled apart and pushed into a mould. In my work, this discomfort, or unease shapes itself in the form of unsettling figures and fragmented body parts. They live in a vibrant, seemingly innocent world I draw for them.
