2000 years of history

I have always been fascinated by stories of history around us. Living near Nijmegen, I learned a lot about the history of my area, particularly stories related to World War II. However, my personal interest lies more in ancient history, from which often only fragments remain. While exploring the historical pieces of my area, one in particular stood out to me: the beautiful, multi-layered history of the shrine of Elst.

My project aims to showcase the various stages of this location through illustrations that transport you to different time periods. These illustrations have been compiled into a book that explores the over 2000-year-old history of the shrine. Additionally, I have enriched my project with an animation that illustrates how the different structures of the shrine were interconnected.
