Mika Speelt met zijn Brus

After researching the lives of siblings of children with autism, I wrote and illustrated a children’s book. The story follows a day in the life of Abel, a loving sister to her younger brother Mika, who has autism. Abel enjoys caring for Mika, but she also has a lot to learn. Life can be challenging for a sibling of someone with autism. Abel knows how difficult it is when she gets less attention than her brother or when he suddenly becomes aggressive. This story shows that it’s normal to feel jealous sometimes and highlights the importance of talking about your feelings.
