Heirloom of the psyche

There is a desire to heal from inherited pains and navigate the paradoxical nature of cultural identity and colonial trauma as an Arawak-Indonesian descendant. When acknowledging loss, there is a constant interplay between alienation and (re)connection. I express this as part of a cycle, a dance, a ritual, to embody its transcendent forms into physical existence, as part of an ongoing metamorphosis.

Easing pain through the softening of sharp shapes like claws, thorns, fangs, and spikes—each serving as a form of protection—my intention is to disarm, and ultimately, to embrace.
