We only process personal data that is necessary for carrying out our duties and responsibilities as a Dutch institute of higher education.
We process all personal data carefully, diligently and in accordance with the applicable legislation and regulations. In doing so, we aim to strike the right balance between our interests and your interests as a data subject, and guarantee your right to make decisions about your personal data.
This privacy statement applies to all processes carried out by Avans University of Applied Sciences. This includes processing via the Avans websites, as well as processing in our administrative systems and support systems.

Your personal data will only be used for the purposes described above. We maintain an updated processing register at the centralized level. Personal information is not kept any longer than necessary for the purposes for which they were collected or used. After this period, the data is destroyed.

Avans may also pass on personal data to parties outside the EU. We only do this if the country in question has suitable protection laws in place that comply with European legislation.

These measures also aim to prevent unnecessary and unlawful collection and processing.
A risk analysis for privacy protection and information security is part of the internal risk management and control system at Avans University of Applied Sciences.
A data leak is a security incident in which data unexpectedly falls into the hands of unauthorized third parties. If you suspect a data leak, please report it using the data leak protocol. Call +31 (0)88-525 88 88. Avans will then take the necessary steps to remedy the situation.
Rights of data subjects
You can submit a request to view or edit your personal data. You can also appeal to all other rights under this privacy regulation, which includes objecting to the processing of your personal data. These requests can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Data protection officer
Avans University of Applied Sciences has appointed an internal data protection officer (DPO). The DPO is responsible for monitoring the implementation of and compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
